Tolerance and togetherness

Summer's great but it can get very hot in full robes! In this update, I talk about Eid celebrations, Oldwood Park Festival, a Royal visit, the RAF Linguistic Plaque and my visits to schools and churches in the borough...

Cricket talent

I was delighted to receive the Lower Park School Cricket Team to the Mayor's Parlour on 1 July. The school's cricket team represented the borough at the Grand Final of the British Land Kids Cricket League in March, at the Indoor School at the world famous Lords Cricket Ground. Over 150 schools from 14 Boroughs took part. Many congratulations to Lower Park Primary School for getting to the final.

I was very impressed by their love and commitment to the game of cricket. They also asked me lots of good questions about being Mayor. I was grilled!!

The Mayoress and I had the pleasure of meeting The Countess of Sussex at the Tiswell College Founder's Day held on 4 July.

Tiswell College was founded in 1695 and provides care and accommodation for older persons in financial need. The Countess of Wessex is The Patron of Tiswell College.
