Inspirations
A highlight last week was handing out certificates and gift tokens to winners of this year’s Westminster Looked After Children Awards, held at Tate Britain. There were some truly inspirational winners, rightly recognised for achieving so much academically
I hosted a visit by a delegation from the House of Lords who wanted to discuss the impact of citizenship ceremonies on those taking part. Among those present was Lord Harries of Pentregrath, the former Bishop of Oxford, whom I met having presided over a citizenship ceremony at City Hall earlier.
I also met two very different judges last week. The first as a guest of Her Honour Judge Deborah Taylor, the Westminster Recorder, sitting in on a case being heard at Westminster Criminal Court. Then, with my consort Christopher, I was a guest speaker alongside barrister and TV personality ‘judge’ Robert Rinder at the Liberal Jewish Synagogue, for an event to mark 50 years since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality.
